This flea market-found oil painting on canvas catches me off guard every time I look at it: the reverberation between those bright orange oranges and that terrific off-key green background gives it a startling pop; it just completely jumps off the wall. I don't know that the artist--it is signed Elysik--was a great painter, but I think their sense of color was pretty fantastic, and this painting, no small feat, feels totally alive.
It measures 16"x20" and definitely has some age to it. There are what appear to be some white paint marks on its surface, mostly against the brown on the right side--and which I feel really fall away once hung on the wall. The canvas is stapled on the sides to the stretcher, and wired on the back for hanging.
