Flower-Star and Petals inside Petals: Burt Gemberling (Age 12) 1880 Graphite Design Drawing, Snyder County, PA

A few more pattern design drawings today by a 12 year old Burt Gemberling of Selinsgrove, Snyder County, PA in 1880--this and two others just listed, all executed in graphite on laid ledger paper. While it appears a straight edge was likely used to outline the star above and the structure of the grid below, everything else looks to have been done freehand, and you can very much feel the presence of his hand in every line. Lovely.

12 7/8" x 7 3/4". Graphite on laid, good condition, with a little toning around the edges of the paper and a few scattered light smudges. Graphite strong and crisp. Blank reverse.
