SOLD Fist with Cuff, 19th Century Presumed Sailor Made Carved Bone Crochet Hook

A lovely one, with a small hook at the end for use as a crochet hook I believe, likely carved by a sailor/whaler as a sweetheart gift. Of course I love the fist, but then especially the detailing of that cuff, which makes me think of a hand clad in a falconer's glove, awaiting the landing of the bird! C. 19th century, I believe more mid than late. 

3 7/16" l. With the marbling of dentin visible on one side, as shown. Very good condition.
