This is the last of a handful of striking (I think) stereoviews I purchased together that came from one collection, and this may be my favorite of all them. Feels to me one part Dutch still life, one part French Surrealist, and one part magic trick waiting to happen. And just a stunning photograph formally, times two, made even better by the orange perimeter of the card.
7" x 3 7/8". Charles E. Smith, Bristol, VT. c. 1880s I believe. Scattered stains and spotting, which just feel atmospherically additive to me. Card lies flat.
