Fine 19th C. Watercolor of Rose and Pansy Bouquet

Regular price $75.00

I purchased this watercolor in a 19th c. Westlake frame (with much toned old mat from which it needed to be freed) from a seller who took it (understandably!) as a print--but a watercolor indeed it is. I've got a special weakness for these floral bouquets executed with such care and precision they are a bit hard to believe, and like to imagine the young women who toiled over them for many hours, perfecting their skills. And on this one, a few tiny touches of white paint to the hoods of the pansies. Lovely.

Waterolor on card. Overall paper (card) size: 13 1/8 x 9 7/8". Toning to the ground as evident, corresponding to how it was matted (all to the good, really, making it a softer cream.) Watercolor remains bright and crisp and in great condition.
