I walked into one of my semi-regular find-seeking spots this weekend and discovered a new (veteran) dealer specializing in tramp art, which felt rather like discovering a pot of gold! This fantastic crown of thorns chair is one of several pieces I purchased from him, and will be checking in regularly!
The chair is British, very late 19th/early 20th century, and beautifully, painstakingly constructed of interlocking pieces, without an ounce of glue anywhere. The pieces are stained black and there is not a missing bit anywhere; it is in truly excellent condition. It features a removable cushion, original to it I believe, but which shows an old stain, so I've mostly photographed it without. There is a tiny bit of wobble to the chair if one tries, but it is structurally super sound and stable.
7" tall x 5" wide x 4 1/4" deep.
