Fantastic 19th Century Very Finely Beaded Green and White Checkerboard Patterned Needlebook/Pinkeep

Regular price $150.00

I swooned when I spotted this one, sold to me by a favorite dealer from Maine, and which I am quite sure is 19th c. New England. Since finding a very similarly constructed finely beaded needlebook a month or so ago (that one with a white New England house and sentiment "Remember Me" spelled out in tiny seed beads, just the size of these) I have been obsessed; not many of these out there, and it wouldn't surprise me a bit if this was made by the same person as that one. And what better than a very modernist feeling green and white checkerboard grid pattern extending in tiny squares across the front and back? With beautiful plaid fabric in soft tones inside and four wool pages for needles, the black ones with hand-cut scalloped edges. Just lovely.

3 x 2 1/8 x 7/8. Very good condition. with a bit of bead loss on the reverse side in a couple of edge spots, pretty minor and all very stable. Bright and crisp and sound and sturdy.
