Of course I love the colorful birds here, parrots I guess, forming a sort of heart that makes this one seem especially fit for Valentine's Day. But it is the painting of the horse at the center of the wall box that really sold me on this--definitely the improvisatory addition of whoever made this many years ago, and just so good I think. The wood is at least in part salvaged from old cigar boxes, as there is a label still visible on the interior of the box, which is large enough to fill with a good stash of chocolate kisses or whatever!
14 1/4" t x 12 1/4" w x 2 1/4" d and in very good, very sturdy shape, with just a little surface cracking to the paint, all to the good I think. C. 1940s or so I believe.
