Wonderful carving, fantastic patina, and a face that feels to me about as existential as they come--exactly right for the bowl of a pipe, breathing in and out forever. And the carving of the stem feels nearly as expressive as the face itself. He's got one small nail just below one temple, I believe a repair to stabilize the split down his forehead; it's a bit hard to tell, but I like him all the better for it.
6 1/8” l x 1 1/2” t x 1” w. Really wonderful dark patina from use, hairline crack down the forehead as evident and detailed. Sturdy and sound. Early 20th c. I would guess.
