Ethereal Early 20th Century Watercolor of Lake Vanern, Sweden

Regular price $60.00

I first wanted to describe this small watercolor as serene, but there are enough clouds in that sky to suggest some weather coming or going, and a bit of moodiness to those quiet purples and grays--maybe ethereal is a better word, and certainly very lovely.  What I know is that this came from a collection of watercolors mostly of water by a young woman of means that included views captured in Italian Lakes, French Cote d'Azur, Germany, Denmark, and Sweden, all from 1904.

9 1/8" long x 4 1/4" tall and in excellent condition. There is a separate piece of paper cutout from her sketchbook noting the location as Lake Vennern (Lake Vanern),  the largest lake in the European Union, located in the in the southwest of the country.
