Empty Boxing Ring, Poignant Feeling Old WW1 Era French Photo

Regular price $20.00

I found this photograph along with a photograph on a blown out building interior taken in Rheims, France during WW1 just after a German bombing listed last week--I believe this, like that, is the work of a French photojournalist, and that this is of the same decade.  For me there is something very potent about the spare, very essentialist feeling construction of a boxing ring like this, all the more so for being empty, and empty here during wartime I believe. The concrete architecture of the space, simple benches, and ladders in the background all compound the aesthetic, and also metaphorical, effect.

7 1/8" x 5 1/16". Some curling to the edges of the photo as shown.
