To my eye this is really a beautiful old box, and a useful one, with the interior divided by slats into three sections. I can find no reference for I.B & Co, which is printed on the lovely old green paper label, but it seems possible it refers to the I.B Rowell Co. of Wuakesha, Wisconsin, which made farming tools; perhaps they produced a toy/model or two as well? Long gone are the "single truck and horse" that were once inside, and gone is the slide lid too, but in ints absence a nice box for desk or studio table holding a wide variety of brushes, pens and pencils stood on end.
15 3/4” x 4 15/16” x 6” t and in sound and sturdy condition. A bit of loss along the slide grooves at one end. C. 1880s or so I believe.
