A nice hinged Chinese cloisonné box, 1920s or so, finely done--rich red with flowers on all sides against a gold labyrinthine design, and with a terrific blue scalloped border and interior. Hinges are in great shape and it stands squarely on four round brass feet. Cloisonné refers to the technique of creating designs on metal vessels with colored-glass paste placed within enclosures made of bronze or brass wires, which have been bent or hammered into the desired pattern.
3 3/4" wide x 2 7/8" deep x 1 5/8" tall. Great condition structurally and looks great; some aging to the exterior surface as documented. Stamped China on the underside.
