I believe this is an antique photo of an early cut paper silhouette, I'm guessing the original silhouette c. 1840s, and the photo late 19th c. I love photographs of portraits rendered in other (earlier) media, translating likenesses from one media/genre to another and carrying them forward. With lovely scalloped edge to the lace collar, and eyelashes visible. The color is a silvery gray, which, along with the negative of the collar, makes it feel al the more like a shadow.
4 3/4" x 3 3/4" framed, as found, with the name Laura written on the back. Very good condition.
