This is the second of two decks of lovely antique French Gatteaux playing cards I recently purchased from a seller in France, stamped 1890. Stenciled coloration, no indices, and barely rounded corners, with the Jack of Clubs featuring the Gatteaux mark on shield, the Ace of Clubs featuring a 1890 tax stamp, and pips showing pretty paper watermarks. This deck has plain backs of a pretty cornflower blue, and show a little bit of curling so I'm pricing them lower than the first deck, which has sold.
Cards measure 3 5/16" x 2 1/8". 52 of 52 cards. Other than slight curling, they are in very good condition, with a small stain to the bottom right corner of the Ace of Clubs, and a couple of small stains and one clean tear on the King of spades, as pictured.
