Colorful c. 1940s Match Book Folk Art Ring/Tray

Regular price $60.00

I don't come across these very often, but am always happy when I do--akin in many ways to tramp/prison art creations woven of old cigarette packs. This was made of matchbooks, and quite a colorful collection of them, with few to no repeats from what I can see, bits of text showing here and there. I presume originally made as the surround for a removable ashtray, but now a nice bowl to house a collection of, say, old clay marbles! (I had a handful of lovely antique Bennington blues sitting around--not included, but I think they make a good case for using that way!

5 5/8" d x 1 1/4" t. C. 1940s or so I believe. General light wear and some visible surface wear to the vinyl on the interior, easily concealed by filling with something. Structurally sound and sturdy great color.
