Color Study Grid, Mounted Hand-painted Squares on Board, 1985

Regular price $50.00

A study of complementary oranges and blues, signed by a Kevin Joy in 1985. Each square was painted, cut out, and adhered to the board, and there is a layer of acetate that was laid over it, folded around the sides, and adhered to the back side. I untaped one side to photograph it and it is easily removed entirely and tossed away, but has had the benefit of protecting it, and the colors remain very vibrant. I'm a huge sucker for a color study, and a grid, too, and find this very satisfying.

16 1/4" x 11 1/4". I can't promise that a square won't come loose at some point, but if so easy to remount with a bit of glue or small roll of mending tape. The board shows a small scattering of what I believe are rubber cement stains and maybe a few small toning spots too, which fall away in favor of the glorious color.
