In addition to just being a cool thing, I was thinking that this old egg shipping crate, with interior egg holders, could be useful for housing little jars of mixed paint, say, and hauling them around, too, as the box latches up tight. First thing under the lid when you open it up is an old sheet of cardboard with the address of a onetime egg recipient, which shows through a cutout in the top of the box. Under the cardboard then are the metal rimmed cardboard egg holders, packed tight and useful still to keep eggs or whatever else safe and sound.
