This vintage Chinese "sitting frog" solid bronze seal or chop is beautifully detailed with incised circles for spots. On the side of the chop is incised text, which may once have read "CHINA" backwards (now it reads "HINA"); underneath on the base are Chinese characters. I believe it dates from the early 20th century. Fully functional as a stamp if inked or pressed into a wax seal, it is also just a great little object to have sitting around.
This chop was purchased from the estate of a collector in central Massachusetts which included a phenomenal array of fine figurines and animal-related art and objects from around the world.
