I have found a match of this set being sold only by an Asian antiques specialist (for more than 5x what I am selling them for)--the only difference being that that one includes a small tray in addition to the cigarette (or opium) box and match box here. The metal I believe is bronze, with inlaid blue enamel accentuating the details of the koi fish, water, lotus and flowers. The box is lined with the original wood insert, which apparently is quite rare to find still intact. My favorite detail is the darker blue enamel used to detail the little feet of each box! Late 19th/early 20th century I believe and while these show some age they remain quite lovely.
Overall good condition. Some tarnishing and darkening to the enamel as pictured. I have not attempted to clean it. The hinges of the cigarette box are well attached but show some tearing along the back and the lid sits at a slight angle. There is a little bending to the top of both pieces. Cigarette box measures 4 1/4” x 3 1/8" x 1 3/4”, match box 2 1/2” x 1 1/2” x 1 1/4”.
