This fabulous Czechoslovakian wooden "ramp walker" toy was a souvenir from "A Century of Progress," an international exposition at the 1934 Chicago World's Fair, which focused on the theme of technological innovation. I am not so sure he embodies a great step forward in terms of technology, but what a charming little figure he is, and quite a rare one, I've learned. He's been carefully hand-painted with a sweet face, fabulous polka dotted hat and terrific blue and red outfit, and "Century of Progress Exhibition Chicago 1934" on his back, plus a long pinkish wooden nose, and his giant walking feet!
Put this guy on a slightly inclined surface get him walking, which he does pretty well! He measures 4 1/4" tall x 1 7/8" wide and is in great overall condition.
