On the back of this little building is written "Knowles Steam Pump", pointing to Warren, MA, I believe, where the Knowles Steam Pump factory operated in the last quarter of the 1800s, prior to merging in 1897 to become Blake and Knowles and moving to East Cambridge, MA. And what a marvelous little building it is, made of a solid wooden block clad in perfect old white paint with graphite drawn windows, and enhanced through the addition of pitched roof, tower, etc. Some losses as evident but wonderfully aged (later 19th c. I believe) and completely charming.
4 1/2" w x 1 3/4" d x 3 5/8" t. Very solid and stable, with some loss to the edge of the roof along one side, which one barely notices, and a few losses of windows and doors.
