Just a small hand-carved thing, with a lot of effort put into it, which has the feel of a whimsy, and also makes me think of temples, and wedding cakes, and who knows what all! I’d guess it once topped a post on a piece of furniture, or something, but it was clearly carved as its own piece, with no hole in it to attach like a finial. I love it now set on a shelf among other carvings and curious little things, really quite a satisfying and wonderfully whimsical feeling little thing.
3” t x 2 11/16” w and d. Very good condition, early 209th c. I would think.
