I have a weakness for naive drawings and paintings of sailing ships, and this oil on board painting is an especially nice example, with the yellows and pinks of the sky giving it quite a radiant glow. I also love the fisherman in brimmed hat on the dock in the foreground, and the interplay between his fishing pole and line, and the shadows cast by the masts and sails of the ship. Plus American flags topping the masts, and two little men on board.
9" w x 6" t. Oil on thick board. Late 19th c or so. Good condition, uncleaned.
