The latest edition in my never ending pile of old school books I couldn't resist...this one Murray's English Grammar Simplified by Allen Fish, published in 1846. While I at least could learn a lot about proper English from this one, of course it the legacy of its onetime owner Charles Wilet that makes me love it, whose name appears on numerous pages, including the first inside page along with a drawing of a star. Our Charles also transformed the copyright page into a drawing of the helm of a ship, pasted assorted clippings into the first few pages, and made some other notes here and there, including writing "END" at the end. Also found inside the pages: a pressed ginko leaf that I think has been there for more than a 150 years, and a sweet little loose ink drawing of a bird.
9 1/4” x 5 5/8” x 168 p. Overall pretty good condition, with plenty of toning to the pages and wear to the covers and spine.
