Such a fabulous fish! I know nothing of its origins, but it's one of my favorite things. I found it at the estate sale of an artist and gallerist on Newbury Street in Boston, who dealt mostly in Haitian art but had a wonderful, eclectic collection of handmade objects from around the world. Those teeth! I love its roughness and the darkness of the clay body, decorated only with some blue glazing on the tail fin. Nice and heavy, with a terrific presence. I'd guess mid-century but am just not sure.
It appears there may be one tiny little chip on the tail fin, which is minor and took me a long time to notice, but overall great condition, and all those teeth appear to be firmly in place! Approx 5" long x 2 3/4" tall x 2 3/8" wide.
