There are some very fancy little antique shoe-shaped snuff boxes out there with all sorts of inlays and flourishes, but I love the relative humility of this one (and its great silhouette), with just some sweet decorative detail carved into the pointy toe and a short heel at the other end. There is some old hand-written cursive text on the bottom of the box, I believe in pencil, but it is very faint and I am unable to read it; I do believe this little box is at least a century old and I'd guess quite a bit older than that.
The sliding top works fine, but the edge of the top shoe is a bit lower on one side, meaning it is not a super tight fit. No real matter, and otherwise in very good antique condition, with a nice patina and sheen. 3 5/8" long x 1 1/8" wide x 3/4" tall.
