I'm usually finding carvings of shorebirds around here, so was happy to find this migrated pelican the other day in Maine, looking so exotic! In his long beak he holds a little painted wooden fish, the tail end of which looks to be lost but that seems fairly appropriate. Nicely color, satisfying swirly paint for the wings, and on a great solid wood base. Unsigned.
7 11/16” t X 5 1/4 w (measured on the square). 3 5/8 x 3 1/8 d base. Very good overall condition, with some loss to the fish as noted and light general wear.
