Carved Bone Northwest Coast Native Totem Pole Letter Opener

Regular price $28.00

I believe this vintage Native American (Northwest Coast or Alaskan) carved bone letter opener dates to the 1930s or 1940s, and would have been a tourist souvenir. I really love it as an object, with two carved and painted figures comprising the totem pole at one end (I believe an owl at the top, with those terrific ears, and perhaps a frog below), and then unpainted bone blade at the other.

It's seen some wear, with some loss to the paint here and there, bit no chips or cracks that I can see and overall good condition. 6" long x 3/4" wide x 1/8" deep. There is a bit of scratching the the reverse side of the blade that almost looks like a signature but I am not certain.
