Carved and Painted Native American Whirligig Figure

It's the carved head on this figure that really made me fall in love with him, with this wonderfully strong triangular nose, straight line for a mouth and deep-set eyes mostly holding onto their original black and white paint. Certainly once paddles extended from his arms, which would spin in the wind, but I rather like the straight across line of his empty hands now—or one could stick other things through the holes at the end of his arms!

7 5/8" t x 5 3/8" across at arms x 3/4" d. Early 20th century I would guess and in very good and solid condition, with no splits or cracks and arms still rotate. Terrific patina especially to the carved head; paint loss as evident, which is all to the good in my opinion.
