Another schoolgirl watercolor by Carol, whose wonderful booklet of watercolor vegetables I just listed. I think she must have been pretty proud of this bluebird, as it was claimed not once but three times on the back--and rightly so I think! It seems quite possible a teacher outlined the bird in pencil first, with Carol contributing the perfect watery blue and brown, and then a few brown crayon lines for the ground and a pencil scribble or good measure! (It does seem likely that one of the signatures on the back was done by a teacher, then twice more in Carol's hand.)
5 3/4" x 4 3/8". Scattered stains, which in this case I think just make it better; paper is in overall good shape and free of tears.
