I've come across a few of these little Mexican wire bullfighting figures over the years, and have always found them pretty amazing, but I've never found as large a set as this, allowing for some pretty exciting arrangements! These were all handmade, c. 1940s I believe, of wire and clay, and hand-painted; I really love the exuberant gestures of the figures with their waving arms, and a red cut paper muleta pierced by the arm of one of them. Three horses too, which attach to the wire on one of the bulls, to lead him out of the ring.
Set includes all pictured, which are in very good condition, with minor paint loss here and there. All stand up steady on their own. Figures measure approx 2" t.
