This fabulous thing is a carved wood whistle in the shape of a bird, complete with mechanical beak! The bark of the branch from which it was carved remains on the central part of the body, but the wood has been hollowed out and whittled, terminating in a blow hole at one end, and an attached head at the other, with a spring that enables its beak (red on the inside!) to open by pressing down on its crest. Pretty great!
7” x2 1/4” x 1 3/8” deep and in great vintage condition.
