Beheading in Silhouette, Haunting and Unusual Old Cut Paper Work

Not for the feint of heart, but quite a striking and potent as well as unusual cut paper silhouette, I'd say. Which, as I look at it, seems all to hinge on this woman standing before the beheaded figure--I'd like to imagine it is she who has finally gotten justice. (Being strongly averse to capital punishment, myself, I'll read that justice as metaphorical.) Hard to look at a silhouetted scene like this  without thinking of the work of Kara Walker now, and this certainly a fraught one.

9 3/4" x 6 7/8" as mounted. Very good condition, black cut paper mounted to cream paper, with a little creasing to the backing paper at corners. C. early 20th century I believe.
