I’ve been kind of obsessed with antique carved wooden drapery lately, and the sculptural carving of the twisting columns framing this mirror satisfies my eye in the same sort of way. I believe this would have been a shaving mirror, with small hooks for hanging brushes and ledges at top and bottom for setting combs, etc, though I’ve not see another with cross bar at the top rather than towel bar at the the bottom; it has a groove in it, so perhaps it is more of a rail for things rested along the top. Now, great anywhere, and the hooks especially good for hanging keys. Wonderful original dry wood patina to the pine.
Impossible to photograph well! And I've whited awkward reflections of myself trying to do so out of a few images! Much lovelier in person!
17 1/8” w x 16” t x 1 5/8” d and in very good condition. I would guess late 19th /early 20th century, with a newer mirror. Mirror is in in great shape. A few small superficial surface dings to the patina on the left column. There is a very well done old mend, I might guess original to it, to the upper right corner were it meets the bar.
