I am not certain the age or origins of this wonderful Native American doll, which I purchased from a seller in Oregon, but I find her an incredibly tender thing, and am completely taken with her. Her head I believe is paper mâché, though almost seems like leather, with sculpted then hand-painted features, attached to a hand-stitched cloth body, with painted hands and legs. Her hair is black yarn, on her feet are suede moccasin boots, and under her simple cotton dress a smartly wrapped undergarment fastened with a safety pin. She is in excellent shape, crisp and clean and bright, and really has a wonderfully warm, very human, presence.
10 5/8" tall x 5 3/8" wide x about 2" deep.
