I find these old turned and colorfully dyed wooden spindles, used for hand-spinning yarn, so lovely that I just couldn't pass them by, and thought they might still be useful for holding yarn, or as tools of some other sort, or just stuck in a vessel to admire! I'd guess the colorful banding, on both ends in most cases, had a correspondence to the yarns they one held, and would guess the color comes from the same dyes used to color the wool.
19th century, and from Bulgaria. They measure between 11 5/8" to 12" long, about 3/4" in diameter. I'm listing as a set of 9 (there is a 10th that is slightly damaged but I'll send it along as well), but if you just want a few, please be in touch.
