One of three 1870s notebooks today from a George Abbott of Boston, MA, this one not full (if only!), but with a handful of very lovely drawings in it, several very carefully done pattern designs included--and one stand along gouache on paper pattern painting loose inside its pages that I'd frame straight away. Photos show pretty much all of the pages, with short descriptions below them identifying a few as drawn from geometric "solids models" and others as "design from a given element", "wall paper design," etc.
10 3/8" x 7 3/4". 8 full page drawings done on one side only, 4 blank pages, plus loose gouache on paper, same dimensions. Brown paper cover with "G. Abbott, 16 years" along top of front cover and doodle of head on back cover All in good condition.
