It's nice to find beautiful old painter's palette's caked in thick layers of oil paint, but quite often ones I come across feel composed rather than product of an actual painter's process. This lovely old one, mahogany I believe, was at some point cleaned/scraped down on the used side, leaving it ready for a painter to put to work again, or to use itself as a blank canvas of sorts, or just to hang on the wall exactly as it is. It's in great shape, no splits or cracks, and with a nice warm patina including old stained and light scratches and a little paint here and there.
12" x 8 11/16". Late 19th/very early century I believe.
