This one I found near impossible to photograph well through the glass, so please forgive the poor quality of the images, shot in both natural and artificial light, which do it no justice. I believe it is safe to categorize this one as a sampler, with the LAO who initialed it clearly practicing her needlepoint skills across three vertical spans of what I read as towers of flowers, rising from the three urns opening up along the bottom. And then this little green steamboat, which to my eye at least turns the two vertical rows of white stitching in between the flowers into trails of smoke emitting from its smoke stack! Undated but I would guess mid 19th c or so, and much lovelier in person.
21 1/8” x 17 1/8” framed, as found, behind glass and in very good condition, with some toning to the linen. The first photo shows the lower edge of the frame as lighter than the rest; this is just product of lighting. Photos show glare. Actual color is fairly close to what is shown in first photo. Backside (not shown, I forgot!) shows clean, I believe fairly recently added, backing board.
