I've seen a few photos of antique wooden spheres held together with leather strips like this, but never any in person, and not another circle like, divided in halves, with five triangles making up each half. I see them as just gorgeous sculptural objects, with all sorts of possibilities for display, and love the way they look like strips of teeth when stretched out and pointing up. Fabulous, and from what I can tell, quite rare to find.
When formed into a circle, it measures 7 1/8" in diameter x 13/16" thick. Wear to the leather at the joints and to the points on the blocks as pictured, but overall very good condition, structurally very sound, with terrific patina.
