I believe this oil on canvas painting is Bavarian--with a view of the Alps in the background. I really like the combination of floral still life and mountainous landscape together in one painting, and with the couple of fallen floral sprigs nodding to the momento mori aspect of still life painting, too. Not a great masterpiece, but lovely, and a nice one to live with I think, and with a bit of a wistfulness to it that feels just right.
14" x 10 3/4", oil on canvas, and in good condition, signed W. Fruh. Some craquelure and one very small spot of paint loss/canvas thinness left center on one sprig of pink flowers--pretty much just visible when holding to light, disappears when hung on the wall. (Detailed.)
