SOLD A Pinch, Marvelous 19th Century Hand-carved Hand-shaped Snuff Box with Brass Inlay Ring and Cuff

(First photo is a composite, showing two views. ) A very wonderful c,. mid 19th century hand-carved "pinch of snuff" treen snuff box, British I believe, with brass pique inlay twice around the cuff and, especially wonderfully, giving a ring to the index finger. (More often one sees pique inlay in the form of tiny brass pins/nails, but here tiny brass strips inlaid side by side on the diagonal, creating a chain-like appearance.) As I understand it, a ring on the index finger historically signified noble status and certainly this feels like a snuff box fit for a queen! (I'd hoped to keep this one for myself, but life has a way of delivering unexpected expenses, which it did this week so I'm hesitantly offering it up.)

 3" t x 1 1/2" w x 1 1/8" d. Excellent antique condition in all respects, hinged end opens easily and closes tight and flush.
