19th Century Rewards of Merit - Group Two (On Card, c. 1840s-70s)

Regular price $70.00

The existence of rewards of merit makes me glad, given from teachers to students to affirm their good efforts, as does the fact that people saved them. Last weekend I found a large collection of them in a box in Midcoast Maine--quite a nice variety of them, which I've divided into three groups, all listed today. The ones in this group are all printed on card, are relatively early examples (c. 1840s-70s or so), and many of them are hand-colored. To my mind a wonderful thing to collect, telling stories of history, and culture, and education, and values, and just very lovely things. And some unusual ones included here.

Large with angel and bee skep: 6 1/4 x 2 3/4". All pictured included, and all in good condition.
