Small, and rare, this tole (painted tin) book shaped box is still holding onto some of its original red paint on the covers and spine and yellow-orange on the “pages”. Whether made as a snuff box or a match holder I am not completely sure, but definitely 19th c. and if you, like me, love all things book shaped, and also boxes of all kinds, a sweet little addition to a collection.
3 1/8 t x 2 1/8 x 1 3/16. Aged, as evident, with just a little separation along one edge as documented, but sound and stable, with hinge in good shape and operating smoothly.
