I found a whole folio of graphite drawings by young Ruth Reynolds in (and of) Lancaster County PA, depicting a variety of animals--a group of birds listed separately today, and more to come, but first this Bay Lynx, looking straight at us as if imploring our intervention, to free it from the bind it finds itself in. The Bay Lynx, better known as the Bobcat, is symbolically associated with night vision (and keen perception), strategic plotting, and precision action--as such, perhaps its trapped foot is all a ploy to draw us in!
7 1/4" x 5 3/4". Graphite on lined paper, good condition, with an old center fold, c. 1930s.
