Colorful Carved and Painted Birds by Canadian Folk Artist Yves Robitaille

Regular price $29.00

Without consciously realizing it, I have been gravitating to the work of lots of Canadians of late, and especially folk artists in and and around Quebec.   These very charming birds are the work of Yves Robitaille (b. 1939), a widely collected sculptor and woodcarver from Saint-Francois-de-l’Ile-d’Orleans. Though he has occasionally carved other small animals, Robitaille is first and foremost a bird carver--shorebirds, song birds, hummingbirds, and most every other kind of bird found on at or near l’Ile-d’Orleans, near Quebec City, where he lives and displays his carvings in a gallery at his house.
These two wooden cutouts--SOLD SEPARATELY; PRICE IS PER BIRD--I really love for their simplicity and graphic quality; plus great color combos and terrific rough surfaces. The pink one is signed, the other is not, and both have eye hooks for hanging. There is a third, fabulous green bird by Robitaille listed separately.
Each approx. 6 1/4" long x 7/8" thick. Please indicate at checkout which you would like--though I suggest buying the pair!
