A very sweet little naive watercolor, signed and dated 1915, and with a note on the back identifying the location at "North Hollow" from Colby Farm, Andover NH. A quick search turns up a bunch about the Colby family and Colby farm, a successful family farm that included cornfields and grazing fields for their livestock, and a historic farmhouse (now restored and known as the Cyrus Colby Farmhouse) dating to 1826. I love the old stone wall in this watercolor, framing the view / creating a dividing line of sorts between here and there, and then what feels like a portrait of two very specific trees, which one feels like this painter knew very well. Very New England-y in lovely way.
8 7/8" x 7". Watercolor 6 3/4" x 4 7/8". Framed, under glass, as found, with the frame painted a pretty mellow silver-gold--not a special frame but I think it suits it fine.
