I really love an old hand-cut stencil, and even better one of one, and I also really love most anything proudly spelling out the name of someone who lived long ago. To my eye, the lettering in this one one could not be any better, either--with those excellent serifs on the J and L and Y. Plus it appears something of a make do creation, making use of a scrap of lead (I believe) surely left over from something else and so following its as-found arc--with an earlier attempt at the lettering visible in graphite on reverse.
14 1/4" x 5 1/2" measured on the square. Very good antique condition, nice untouched patina.
