Wonderful Woven Scrap Tin Folk Art Basket in Red and Green Paint. c. 2nd Quarter 20th Century

Regular price $195.00

One of my very favorite folk art finds of late--functional basket, painting, and sculpture (and maybe 10 year anniversary gift!) all at once. Woven of hand-cut scrap tin strips that look to have been salvaged from tin containers--see details, there are glimpses of words here and there--that were then given the Pollock-esque spatter paint treatment in red and green and white before being woven into the basket. Terrific form, fabulous folded construction to the tall, arching handle, great patina, really a wonderful thing.

8 1/2" x 7" x 9 3/4" t (handle). Very good condition, terrific presence, perfect patina, sound and sturdy, with some surface rusting to the interior, all to the good I think.
